Mr Sandy has wide experience in the management of general ophthalmic conditions and has an interest in cataract surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery and tear drainage surgery.
Mr Sandy was appointed consultant in ophthalmology and oculoplastics to the North Hampshire Hospitals NHS trust in August 2000 having trained as an eye specialist at Moorfields Eye Hospital London. In addition to his general ophthalmology training he undertook a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic surgery, also at Moorfields.
He has wide experience in the management of standard and complex cataract surgery using standard and premium intraocular lenses. This includes refractive lens surgery to minimise spectacle use after surgery.
He has also lead the oculoplastics unit at the North Hampshire Hospital since 2000. This includes the management of eyelid disorders including eyelid position problems and reconstructive surgery following tumour removal.

He takes part in annual appraisal and regular GMC revalidation. Mr Sandy’s private practice is based at The Hampshire Clinic in Basingstoke, also consulting at The Candover Clinic at the North Hampshire Hospital. He practices part time in the NHS at The North Hampshire Hospital.
